Filipp Pogostkin

Filipp Pogostkin was a senior coach at a USTA Regional Training Center in Seattle, Washington, before the

COVID-19 pandemic. He played a pivotal role in leading the academy to win the National Program of the

Year in 2020 and in producing numerous USTA gold balls, college scholarships, and top International

Tennis Federation (ITF) players. After years of success in the Pacific Northwest, Filipp moved to Irvine,

California, to establish Tier 1 Performance—an elite training program dedicated to the development of

committed players. Over the past two years, Tier 1 Performance has supported many top Southern

California players in advancing to the next stages of their careers.

Filipp Pogostkin co-founded the Tier 1 Performance Tennis Academy alongside partners Eric Diaz and

Jason Leavitt, facing the challenges posed by COVID-19. This initiative was rooted in Filipp' vision to

redefine tennis coaching and development, emphasizing quality coaching, meticulous attention to

detail, and a deep commitment to the growth of players. Under his leadership, Tier 1 Performance

swiftly became a prominent academy, achieving significant success, including developing multiple Easter

Bowl champions, a Wimbledon champion, and a two-time Kalamazoo champion, among others. The

academy's philosophy highlights the collective effort in nurturing champions, backed by a diverse and

experienced coaching team dedicated to a shared vision of excellence in tennis training.

Filipp's coaching achievements include mentoring three top 20 ranked junior tennis players in the world,

with two boys currently holding the #1 rank in the country in the 18’s and 16’s categories, and having

the 7th and 14th highest Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) among juniors globally. His students have won

titles such as two Easter Bowl Championships and have been ranked within the top 20 in the United

States. His guidance has secured college scholarships at prestigious institutions such as USC, UCLA,

Florida, Boise State, Arizona, Georgia, Princeton, Harvard, Gonzaga, UC Santa Barbara, UCI, University of

Washington, Oregon, and more. His tutelage has also produced a Wimbledon Doubles Champion and an

Australian Open doubles finalist. Filipp is certified by the USTA High Performance, Net Generation, the

Kovacs Tennis Specialist Institute, and the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA).
